Summary

A Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. It was constructed after World War II and closed in October 1968. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey the site was found to have been destroyed. It was located underground on the east side of Horton Road next to Denton Airfield.

Full Description

{1} In summer of 1965 RAF decided that no longer required services of ROC in low-level reporting role; last 280 or so active overground structures became redundant; Cogenhoe post was resited to ngr 817577 in 1953; closed in 1968;

{3} Cogenhoe underground ROC Monitoring Post SP 8185726 (in Brafield Parish). Date of opening unknown; closed Oct 1968; visited by Sub. Britt. 29/11/98; described as demolished; (This is a later relocation of the wartime site SMR 6462/0/1)
