Monument record 8471/2 - Cransley And Loddington Mineral Railway
Please read our guidance about the use of Northamptonshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A mineral line was opened to Cransley in 1877 from a junction South of Kettering to serve the quarries there. It was extended to Loddington in 1891 after the Cransley quarries were quarried out. The extension was closed in 1963, and the line lifted in 1972, but the Cransley section remained open to service the blast furnaces there.
