Monument record 4004 - Prehistoric Settlement, north-west of Avenue Farm

Cropmarks of rectangular and curvilinear enclosure identified on aerial photographs during Northants NMP. There are at least three probable rectilinear ditched enclosures of probable Iron Age or Roman date visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Located in a field about 500 metres NW of Avenue Farm, a rectilinear ditch encloses an area about 39 x 15 metres. Attached to the NW side is a possible rectilinear ditched enclosure enclosing an area about 32.5 x 11 metres, with further possible enclosures attached to the east suggested by short ditch sections. Centred some 90 metres to the NE is a square enclosure ditch that encloses an area about 25 metres square. From the SW corner of which extends linear ditches SW, SE and NW that suggest possible further enclosures.

Located in a field about 500 metres NW of Avenue Farm and centred at SP 97695 65056, a rectilinear ditch encloses an area about 39 x 15 metres. Attached to the NW side is a possible rectilinear ditched enclosure enclosing an area about 32.5 x 11 metres, with further possible enclosures attached to the east suggested by short ditch sections. Centred some 90 metres to the NE is a square enclosure ditch that encloses an area about 25 metres square. From the SW corner of which extends linear ditches SW, SE and NW that suggest possible further enclosures.
