Monument record 4348 - Possible Prehistoric Settlement, West of Hemington

Aerial photography(?) and fieldwalking have identified evidence to suggest a possible prehistoric settlement. Fieldwalking undertaken in 1990 by David Hall comprisiing a Iron Age and Roman pottery scatter.

{1} Hemington Site 3 - Find spot, Iron Age / RB pottery scatter located above Monument 4348 (possible prehistoric settlement). IA pottery comrprised shell gritted wares including a stub handle, rim and body sherds, RB sherds comprised grey wares, NVCC, sandy grey wares, 1 pink rim (Oxford ware?), fragment of tegula (currently unlocated) and small slag fragment

IA pottery comrprised shell gritted wares, one with fine finger tipped decoration, RB sherds comprised grey ware rim sherds, part of a base, NVCC, shell gritted wares, scored and coarse wares and 1 Tegula fragment
