Full Description

{1} The enclosure of the common fields of Preston Deanery had certainly taken place by the early 18th century but the exact date is unknown. Ridge and furrow exists on the ground or is visible on air photos over almost the entire parish. It is well marked in the north west of the parish where the existing fields were known in 1742 as The Warren, and in the south of the parish within the area of the medieval deer park.
