Summary

Designed by Gotch and Saunders in 1896, the Kettering General Hospital comprised a central administration block flanked by two ward blocks. It was enlarged in 1901-3 by the same architects and the nurses home was built in 1926.

Full Description

{1} Kettering General Hospital was erected in 1896-7 and enlarged in 1902-3 (with the addition of Spencer and Buccleuch wards) from designs by Messrs Gotch and Saunders architects. The hospital opened on October 30th 1897. A new ward was added in 1919 and additional small wards for private patients, an eye department for out patients and an X-ray room, an othopaedic clinic for treatment of men who suffered indury during the war were added. The hospital is a sandstone construction and is still in use for the same purpose today. Film 15, photo 11,12.
