Full Description

{1} A number of linear features were evident. Prehistoric pottery sherds were retrieved from two of the features, and occasional charcoal and animal bone was generally found. The ditches/gullies were accompanied by pits and postholes, one of the latter containing fragments of pottery, animal bone and a single fragment of struck flint flake.
This activity may be associated with a continuation of some of the undated features previously excavated to the south-east in 1999. the animal bone retrieved contained butchered remains of domestic animals, suggesting the features could be associated with ditches, gullies, pits and postholes from enclosures/farming activity, possibly from the Iron Age.
