Full Description
{1} Trench J was cut to confirm the identification of an earthwork as a former quarry. To the south the trench cut through the quarried area, suggesting that c.1m of material had been quarried away. The trench was waterlogged at this point. The only dating evidence was a single sherd of medieval pottery, no earlier than AD 1225, the quarry may however be considerably later than this.
