Monument record 1223/0/5 - Possible Industrial Layer Relating to Pottery Production, Woods Lane

A watching brief noted the presence of a possible buried surface of unknown date, and the remains of a post-medieval wall and pit in footings being dug for a new garage.

{1} A watching brief undertaken in 2001 identified a narrow band of white clay chalk which may represent the remains of an old occupation later from the time of the pottery industry but no dating evidence was retrieved. Also identified were the remains of a wall from a modern brick shed and a pit only visible in section. Post-medieval glass and pottery were rescued from this feature.
