Former Laundry and attached house. 1900-01. By William Huckvale for Charles Rothschild. Coursed squared stone with hipped and half-hipped thatch roofs and stone ridge and end stacks with moulded ashlar single, double and triple linked flues. Vernacular Revival style.

{1} Former Laundry and attached house. 1900-01. By William Huckvale for Charles Rothschild. Coursed squared stone with hipped and half-hipped thatch roofs and stone ridge and end stacks with moulded ashlar single, double and triple linked flues. Vernacular Revival style. Complex plan with a linking corridor leading from the back of the house to a long cross wing containing the main former laundry rooms and a wing extending to rear of this. Single and two storeys. House has gable to left with a leaded 4-light stone mullioned window and hoodmould to both floors, that to ground floor with transom. Within a verandah to right a similar square bay window and part-glazed door with overlight. Small eyebrow dormer over. On left end a similar 4-light window to both floors and on right end a part-projecting stack and a 3-light and a 2-light window. Similar windows and a plank door to rear and on the rear wing which leads to the link, which has part-glazed door and screen to one side and mullioned and transomed windows and an eyebrow dormer to the other. The long cross wing has 2-light mullioned and transomed windows to sides and rear, and taller 4-light windows to ends. Roof louvres have thatched roofs. The further single-storey wing to rear of this has single- and 2-light windows to sides and 3 plank doors on the end. The interiors of the cross-wing are noted as having green-tiled dados and white-tiled walls above. The fine and extensive complex forms part of the significant group of the model estate buildings of Ashton built by Charles Rothschild.
