Full Description
{1} Lodge cottage. 1900-01. By W Huckvale for Charles Rothschild. Coursed squared stone with hipped thatch roof forming a verandah on two sides and central stone stack with moulded ashlar quadruple flues. Vernacular Revival style. Single storey and attic. Canted polygonal bay window to left of leaded stone mullioned and transomed windows. Part glazed plank door within verandah to right. Above is a wide eyebrow dormer with similar canted 4-light window and panels of stonework either side. Similar windows and doors to right side and rear. Part of the significant group of the model estate buildings of Ashton built by Charles Rothschild after he bought the estate and similar to East End Lodge (qv) (Lutton CP).
