Full Description

{1} An old watercourse was observed to the south east of the mill. This represents the course of the Nene before straightening, as shown on the 1st edition OS map of 1889. Ten sherds of abraded Roman pottery together with three flint flakes were recovered.

During the watching brief a bend in the River Nene was observed as a paleochannel. The residual finds are not unsurprising given the amount of prehistoric and Roman settlement in this part of the Nene valley.
