Full Description

{1} Medieval hermitage located adjacent the Stamford Road beyond the brook in Armitage Close. A chapel was standing here in the mid 16th century when Leland described 'a little withoute Welleden I passed over a broket, and thereby I saw a faire chapelle'. The building was standing in 1585 with what appears to have been some form of gatehouse beside the road. A building still survived in 1814 but had gone by the late 19th century.
