Full Description
{1} Pair of gatepiers and gates. Earlier C20. Almost certainly by Clough Williams-Ellis for the Eykyn family. Ashlar and wrought-iron. Two moulded ashlar square gatepiers have curving arms projecting from the top which support Chinese style lanterns. Gates and their subsidiary iron piers have panels with elaborate lattice and squared infill and spike finials. A drawing for these gates by C.W.-E. showing another version of the design is in the RIBA Drawings Collection (RAN 32/G/19) and the architect was a friend of the Eykyn family which owned the former Gayton House (demd.1972). Information from South Northants. District Council.
