Full Description

{1} Steam mill. Kelly's Directory lists Westley Bros and Clark as millars (steam). SOURCE: Kelly's Directory 1898.

{2} [SMR Note 20/10/2011: source gives grid ref. as SP726 537 and says that no signs of the mill can now be seen so unsure whether it is actually referring to this site]
History:
1086 Domesday recorded Blidesworde with one mill rendering 2 shillings
1798 In Militia returns for Blisworth, a schedule gives William Dsent owning one watermill able to grind 6 quarters per week.
1800 Building of the canal would have taken the water from the mill
1969 House building started ont eh site of the mill pond.
Map of Blisworth c.1820 does not show the mill but adjacent to the site the bridge over the canal is maked "Mill Bridge"
The present road to Gayton is built on top fo the original mill pond dam. The pond stretched to the south of the road and was fed by the stream which was diverted by the building of the canal.
