Full Description
{1} Two groups of parallel trends have been noted in the data. They appear to respect each other and neither is on the alignment of the modern ploughing. They are therefore attributed to ridge and furrow cultivation.
{2} Trench 3: in all there were four furrows between 8m and 9.5m apart and ranged from 1m to 2.5m wide. Trench4: there were two shallow furrows 10m apart and 1.1m wide. Compared to trech 3 the orientation the furrows had changed by 90 degrees, suggesting the location of a medieval furlong boundary. In trench 12 were found three shallow furrows between 1.8m and 2.2m wide with a spacing of 10m. The furrows were orientated in a north-north east to south-south west.
