Full Description
{1} A concentration of 22 Iron Age sherds was recovered from an area of 0.8ha in the angle formed by the western and southern linear ditches to the west of the large enclosures, while only 6 sherds were found within the latter. The paddocks and unenclosued round houses to the souoth are virtually devoid of material. It is possible that the cropmarks date from the earlier Iron Age, particularly as they show some similarity to the site at Top Lodge, and any associated pottery may have been destroyed by modern ploughing. 8 sherds of Iron Age pottery downslope to the east pof the paddocks could indicate additional activity in an area without cropmarks. The pottery was a mixed group of small sherds which could date from the C4th BC to the C1st AD.
