Full Description
{1} Possible site of a motte and bailey castle. Earthworks much disturbed by the insertion of water tanks, badger tunnelling, landscaping associated with Boughton Hall and the erection of a playground. Possible bailey, located to the east of the motte. The area would originally have been surrounded by open, level ground and not overlooked. Earthworks not clearly definable. Ridge and furrow located to either side of the earthworks appear to be consistent. An old quarry lies on the west side, now formed into a pond. Complex earthwork remains may represent more than one period of activity.
