Building record 1160/48/2 - Former Boot and Shoe factories (part of the Barratt Shoe Factory), Freehold Street

Two additional shoe factories added to the south of the original 1913 Barratt `Footshape works' site in the 1930s and 1950s respectively. Both blocks are brick built with steel frames and have flat roofs made from concrete.

{1} Three storey boot and shoe factory on Freehold Street developed as an extension to barratt factory on Barrack Road. Modern in design with little external decoration with the exception of three vertical brickwork panels set into the south west side of the frontage and a central panel running through all three floors to the south east side. The building is likely to date to the 1930s.
