Full Description

{1} The field to the north and west of the mound, with its well-marked ridge and furrow strip ploughing, contained numerous deep and irregular depressions which can only be explained by the incidence of early ironstone workings in those parts which were not covered by a very thick deposit of chalky boulder clay and sand. The ridge and furrow ploughing would seem to have post-dated the mound.
