Full Description
{1} List A: Extensive Areas of Field Systems.
Many furlongs with headlands and joints that belong to the almost complete township of Althorpe (in Brington parish). Completely surrounds the Elizabethan House and parkland, containing many emparkment features associated with complete, well preserved earthwork remains of Althorp deserted vill. A small amount of the township may be outside the park area, but the survival of ridge and furrow approaches 80%. An example of early enclosure (1512); medieval and later records in the Spencer Collection (NRO). 150ha.
