Full Description
{1} A 3m-wide ditch was aligned east-west. It had steeply sloping sides, a flat base and was 0.8m deep. Its fill contained a flint core, a single sherd of post-medieval glass and a sherd of prehistoric pottery. To the north was an undated shallow pit and associated posthole. To the south of the ditch were two undated pits. Of these the latter was the more substantial, being 0.4m deep and having a projected diameter of 1.6m. Its dark, gravel-flecked fill resembled those of the gravel pits located to the west of the ringfort. Aligned north-west to south-east at the extreme southern end of the trench was a shallow ditch or gully. Its fill contained no dating evidence.
