Full Description

{1} The common fields of the parish were enclosed by Act of Parliament of 1755. Most of the ridge and furrow in the parish remains on the ground or can be traced on air photos and the pattern is well preserved. As a result of the rolling landscape, with many steep-sided valleys, most of the furlongs are at right angles to each other or set obliquely, apparently to ensure that ridges run down the slopes.
