Full Description

{1} Another road running in from the south to join the road to Alchester. This new road was 6m wide and consisted of pieces of limestone forming a layer 200mm thick resting on the natural clay. This sat within a 'road zone' 10m wide delimited by side ditches 1.201.3m wide and 300-700mm deep. There was evidence for recutting on both eastern and western sides. The general direction of the road suggests that its destination was Fleet Marston in Buckinghamshire, where there was a substantial settlement.
