Full Description
{1} Pit 107 was one of the few pits which there was time to excavate fully. It was 5ft in diameter, about 5ft deep, and was filled with dark silts and ironstone. When the pit first showed up it had a black rim. This represented organic material (skins, reeds etc) which had been used to lnie the pit. It would appear originally to have been a food storage pit. When it became useless for storage it was presumably filled with pottery and rubbish.
