Full Description
{1} Building Area 1: the main wall was built into occupation layers dated by pottery to the late C1st AD. The extensive limestone yard to the north yielded coins and some bronze objects, all of the C4th. Internal walls were not seen. The stone drains seem to be associated with this building area; they have the usual arrangement of limestone slabs placed in a V-shaped trench with a further slab laid across the top, forming an equilateral triangle. A well lay inside the building. The yard stretched the length of the building and extended northwards to the line of the old road's south hedge.
