Full Description
{1} On a map of c.1585 the application site is shown as a close with three buildings fronting the lane. A map of the parish in 1813 shows the plot but any buildings had disappeared by that time.
An extensive area of limestone rubble, up to 450,, thick, was identified along most of the frontage where it filled a holle that had been cut into the natural ironstone. It was itself cut by a modern drain at the south. A single sherd of red earthernware pancheon dating to the eighteenth or nineteenth centuries was found within the rubble which was removed mechanically. The purpose of the hollow is indeterminate.
