Full Description
{1} A narrow linear feature 0.4m wide and 0.2m deep. It contained dark grgey-brown andy clay but no finds.
{2} There were three internal features within the main enclosure: a possible roundhouse, a linear gully, and a small pit. This area had thin topsoil and clearly had suffered some significant plough truncation. It is possible, therefore, that more discrete features (such as post-holes) may not have survived.
The roundhouse comprised a 9.17m length of curvilinear gully, c.0.35m wide and 0.05m – 0.1m deep. It was disturbed by a modern sewer on the east-side, and truncated by plough damage on the south side. With concave sides and a flat base, it contained a single sherd of Iron Age pottery and animal bone.
The linear gully was 5.8m long, and ranging in width from 0.22-0.5m. It had vertical sides and flat base and was 0.2m deep. It contained 30 sherds of Iron Age pottery and animal bone. This have may been the remains of a beam-slot.
The pit was circular and measured 0.58m in diameter, and 0.16m.
