Full Description

{1} The remains of former houses and gardens. A single building still stood at the north end of the site in 1717 and in 1841.

SP 744 393: Settlement remains: small rectangular paddocks in an area already devoid of houses by 1717 emphasise the dual character of the village. Originally two villages (Wyke Dyve to the north and Wyke Hamon to the south) separated by an east flowing stream.

{2} The earthwork remains of four regular tenements and yards typical of medieval toft and croft arrangement. The eastern limits are defined by a back boundary earthwork. One property is still shown as a structure on the 1885 1:2500 OS map. It is likely that these earthworks are the remains of medieval properties mirroring those to the west of the road, implying a planned village layout south of the stream.
