Full Description

{2} T. Welsh describes a triangular earthwork enclosing an area up to 220, north south by up to 250m east west. It sits in the mouth of a small tributary valley. The north/ north-north-east side is a massive curving bank 15-17m broad and 8-10m deep. The south side would have been along the line of a field boundary shown on early OS maps. The earthwork appears to be depicted on the 1688 map of Brixworth. There are indications of defensive features within the earthwork. A Roman or Saxon date is suggested from evidence from documentary sources.
