Full Description

{1} Three features were seen but in all probability they are part of a single large feature, such as a quarry pit. It was not, however, possible to prove this by tracing the feature(s) in plan, due to the the depth of the surviving overburden. The feature(s) all appear to have been infilled quite soon after they were first dug, for there was no sign of weathering or silting. This would accord with their interpretation as small scale medieval quarry pits. Body sherds of 14th/15th century Potterspury pottery were found in the bottom of the feature(s).
