Summary

The Marton Junction to Weedon branch of the London and North Western Railway was opened from Weedon to Daventry on 1 March 1888 and from Daventry to Marton Junction on 1 August 1895. The line was closed to passenger traffic on 15 September 1958 and the line from Southam to Weedon completely closed on the 10 May 1964, since when it has been dismantled. Only the section from Marton Junction to Southam remains, carrying coal to the cement works there.

Full Description

{1} Former junction for Daventry branch of railway. Branch opened 1888, was extended to Marton Junction in 1895 and was closed to all traffic between Weedon and Napton in 1963.

{3}The Marton Junction (SP 384665) to Weedon (SP 624605) branch of the London and North Western Railway was opened from Weedon to Daventry on 1 March 1888 and from Daventry to Marton Junction on 1 August 1895. The line was closed to passenger traffic on 15 September 1958 and the line from Southam (SP 427645) to Weedon completely closed on the 10 May 1964, since when it has been dismantled. Only the section from Marton Junction to Southam remains, carrying coal to the cement works there.
