Full Description

{1} Baker’s map shows a large roughly rectangular earthwork, described as having a slight bank inside a ditch. In its south west corner and south side met the west rampart of the contour fort, but the north, Baker claimed, passed through the defences and extended down the hill as a ‘covered way’. By 1923 all but the north corner of this enclosure had gone and this north corner survives flow only as a scarp 0.2m high; however, another scarp continues north east for some 45m before turning south east and fading out (cf. mon 7398/0/1).
