Summary
Kettering Crematorium was built in 1940 as a dual purpose crematorium and cemetery chapel. It was built for Kettering Corporation, to designs by Lt-Col James P Haugh and C Gingell, by the Kettering Corporation Direct Labour Department. A Romanesque style building, church like in form, with cloisters and a prominent tower. It is built of 'Bedford grey' bricks, with Portland stone dressings and plinths. The building was extended in 1978, with the addition of a new chapel and a Chapel of Remembrance.
