Summary

A slight mound has been recorded here possibly a Bronze Age barrow. An ancient cemetery is reputed to be located nearby.

Full Description

{1} Aerial photos show a slight mound at this point - possibly the earthworks of a prehistoric barrow.

{2} There is an ancient cemetery (apparently pagan) in a field near a barrow, about 350 yards north of Pytchley church (SP 87 SE 17).

No indication of barrow on original 1" (1830) but OS 6" 1958 shows a single tree surrounded by a peck line at SP 8601 7510 which may mark the site of the barrow. Air photos show a slight mound at this point.

{4} The area has been surface quarried and there are no extant remains. No further information.
