Full Description
{1} Fieldwalking found medieval pot sherds including St Neots ware, C13 shelly wares and post medieval orange sandy wares. A post medieval brass jetton (c.1570-1610) was also found. These finds are not associated with Wilby Thorpe. Information from G. Foard (5/1/1981)
{2} Jar rims in St Neots Ware; a wide range of 13th century shelly wares; Lyveden type wares; inturned bowl rims in cream coloured fine sandy ware; brass jetton c.1570-1610. Suggests the possibility that this might be the site of the 'lost' medieval village of Wilby Thorpe

During 1966 a wide range of pottery dating from Belgic to medieval was recovered from spoil heaps near the newly constructed Ruskin Avenue Junior School at SP 872 675 in the parish of Wellingborough. As well as the usual Romano British grey sandy ware and Nene Valley ware, part of the shallow Samian cup and a body and rim fragment of decorated Romano-Saxon pottery were recovered. This latter piece is in the Westfield Museum. The medieval finds on the site are probably associated with 'Wilby Thorpe' DMV, see SP 86 NE 12)
{7} Kettering Museum have a large collection of pottery etc from this area which has yet to be sorted and classified.
