Full Description

{1} "Three or four collections of human bones thrown into heaps without any order", with fragments of Roman urns amongst some of them, were found at the opening of a gravel-pit on the south side of the turnpike road from Thrapston to Market Harborough in Islip Field. (Road SP 9678 to 9878).

{2} Finds from a gravel quarry in the C18th consisted of three or four collections of human bones thrown in heaps without order and Roman pot sherds. From by the Thrapston to Market Harborough turnpike, in Islip Field. Possibly the gravel pit on the OS 25" at SP98807848.

{4} OS 25" shows a gravel pit at SP 98807848 - this agrees with the topographical information of Authy {1} and is probably the pit to which reference is made.
