Full Description

{1} To the north of Drayton Old Park earthworks may indicate that Snapes Wood was an undocumented extension of the old deer park.

{2} Earthwork banks and ditches found in Snapes Wood and woodlands of Drayton Old Park, Slipton and Sudborough.
18th century woods - Snapes, Long Lown, Shire Hazels, Ekens and Round Lown all surviving in 1972. Plan showing
surviving earthworks at this time.

{4}{5} A further addition to the park was made, probably in the later middle ages, when Snapes Wood was enclosed.
