Summary

A possible Iron Age settlement is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The site comprises a curvilinear enclosure and a larger rectilinear enclosure, possibly forming an outer ditched boundary to the west. Other linear ditches, possibly forming enclosures are visible to the southeast. Another possible enclosure is centred at SP 99254 67239 and may be contemporaneous and associated. A collection of Iron Age pottery has been recorded nearby.

Full Description

{1} Iron Age settlement (SP 990673), in the south of the parish on Boulder Clay at 290ft above OD. An area of dark soil associated with early Iron Age and Belgic type sherds has been noted.

{3-4} A possible Iron Age settlement is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. The site comprises a curvilinear enclosure (centred at SP 99041 67415) with a larger rectilinear enclosure, possibly forming an outer ditched boundary to the west. Other linear ditches, possibly forming enclosures are visible to the southeast. Another possible enclosure is centred at SP 99254 67239 and may be contemporaneous and associated. A collection of Iron Age pottery has been recorded nearby.
