Full Description

{1} In 1889/90 permission was granted to tunnel beneath Station Road, but a report in the Wellingborough News of 1890 states that this was only half completed.

{2} A line was built direct to the furnaces, a distance of about one mile.

{3} There were three distinct phases of use of the quarries.
C.1870s to 1891: stone was transported by standard gauge tramway operated by steam locomotives. It is possible that the tramway to the limestone quarry crossed Station Road on the level and then through Harlocks. In 1889/90 permission was granted to tunnel beneath Station Road, but a report in the Wellingborough News of 1890 states that this was only half completed and Glendon Iron Co.Ltd. ceased operations the following year.
