{1} History:
1086 Possibly one of the two mills recorded at Burton Latimer in the Domesday survey
1764 Mill occupied by Thomas Garratt
1786 Samuel Garratt insured his dwelling house for £220 and the adjoining water corn mill, stone slated and thatched for £300
1842 Referred to as "Burton Mill" in dispute about fishing rights with owners of other mills in Burton and Isham
1851 Referred to as "Abbott's Mill" in census return
1876 Mill for sale quoted "also a very powerful steam engine, recently fitted, equal to new, by an eminent maker, in first class condition"
1910 By this time only steam power appeared to be used
1911 fire at the mill, caused by a spark from an engine outside the mill
1914 No information after this date
