Full Description
{1}The mill itself stood until a few years ago, but has now been demolished. Traces of its foundations, leats and mill pond to the north west still remain. The pond is called Mill Pond on the Tithe Map of 1851.
{4} Bryant's 1827 map shows the mill pond
{5} History:
1086 Domesday records 'Teworde' with one mill rendering 30d. And part of a mill at Taneford rendering 30d.
1762 Militia list for Thenford gives Edward Busswell as miller.
1864 Reference to a Mrs S. Sharpe of Thenford Mill.
1970s Mill demolished
Eyre and Jefferys' 1791 map marks it Mill; Bryant's 1827 map marks it Mill with a pond to the north. The site was visited 13/06/2002. Nothing was observed to be able to identify the site. Archaeological potential: little disturbance in the area, so there may be some below ground remains.
