Monument record 3311/1 - Possible Iron Age settlement, north of Cranford Road

Archaeological investigation identified probable rectilinear enclosure ditches. However, the low denisty of finds and absence of other features such as pits suggest it could be a short-lived or seasonal area of occupation.

{1} Geophysical survey identified a large irregular enclosure of probable Iron Age to Romano-British date, about 75m across, with a much smaller, approx rectangular enclosure set into its north-west corner. One probable round house lies within the larger enclosure, but there are no other noteworthy internal features.

{2} Trial trench excavation identified ditches that correlated with the geophysics which contained small quantities of middle and later Iron Age pottery.
