Summary

The first reference to the mill is 1851. The last trade directory reference to a miller here was in 1906. In 1928 the mill was said to have been 'demolished long ago'.

1851 First reference to a miller at the watermill, John Bukk
1857 Joseph Timms took possession of the mill on payment of £10 and promise to pay rent
1885 By this time steam as well as water power being used at the mill
1906 Last trade directory reference to a miller at the watermill
1928 Mill 'demolished long ago… traces of it can still be seen'

Documentary sources: The watermill is not shown on the 1791 Eyre and Jeffreys' map, Bryant's 1827 map or the 1834 1 inch OS map. 1882 6 inch OS map does show the watermill.
