Full Description

{1} An enclosed wood/spinney, probably called Colepitt Ashes, is shown on Hatton's 1580 and 1587 surveys. Following enclosure within the c.1585 deer park the wood appears to have been opened up slightly and a cruciform arrangement of rides cut through it.

<1> 1587, The Survey of The Manor of Holdenby made in 1587 (Finch-Hatton), (checked) (Map). SNN18147.
