Full Description

{1} The barn is a simple rectangular building of one phase with later alterations, of late 19th century date. In its original form it appears to have ocmprised two large storage barns with arched double doors in the western half. These have been subsequently blocked and that half converted to stock hovels with a hay loft above. When theupper floor was converted to a hay loft the tie beams appears to have been cut through to provide sufficient headroom and vertical posts inserted to support the collar,w hich in turn gave additional support to the principal rafters and the purlins which they in turn supported. Analysis of the eastern end roof beams.
