Full Description
{1} A large trapezoidal enclosure (90m by 80m) is identified within the angle formed by the droveroads - the other sides are defined by single ditches. The droveroad at the northern apex is realigned at this point. A dense concentration of Romano-Britsih pottery (C1st-C4th AD) is located on this area. A total of over 2000 Roman pottery sherds were recovered with between 50 and 137 sherds from each individual stint.
{2} In the northern field at least two broad phases may be distinguished, with a double-ditched enclosure (A), and larger rectilinear enclosures with possible drove roads (B). The rectilinear enclosures may be of Roman date.
{3} Continuation of the droveway from Field 12 was confirmed, although only one of its side ditches was detected. Its alignment extends for 60m from north-east to south-west and forms a boundary between the settled area and an open landscape at the north.
