Full Description

{1} There was evidence of localised imestone extraction where limestone was close to the surface. This comprised three sub-ovoid shaped pits. These were 16m wide by at least 0.6m deep, 38m long by 20m wide by up to 0.2m deep, and 43m long, 18m wide and up to 1m deep respectively. All had dish-shped profiles. Ditch 7986/0/1 cut thr extractin pits. It is likely that due to the poor quality of the limestone that it was used for road construction.
