Full Description

{1} 1815 mapping of woodland which existed up until c.1850 [ie not on first edition maps] suggests that the trackway may be a former ride through woodland. The trackway appears to represent the 'gap' between woodland parcels 9173/0/5 and 9173/0/6. Google Earth imagery suggests that it curved southwards after leaving the woodland.

{2} The north-west to south-east curving course of a woodland trackway/ride can be seen running through Upper Lodge Wood, which has now been entirely cleared away. This appears to be the trackway represented on Google Earth imagery (best seen on that dated 26/06/2005).

{3} An Iron Age/Roman trackway is visible as cropmarks on air photographs. The feature runs along a northwest-southeast alignment. The trackway is extant on 2008 specialist oblique photography NMR 20759/03 25-APR-2008.
