Full Description

{1} Three ditches formed two sides of an enclosure. The two parallel ditches to the north indicate that it went through several phases of use. The enclosure contained a large amorphous pit in its south west corner which had clearly been re-dug on a number of occasions. The pit was overlain by a short section of wall. There was also a short stretch of shallow gully inside the enclosure.
The enclosure may be seen as a development of the later medieval yard system. The pits and building within it indicate domestic activity. The fragment of wall may originally have been part of a building or may represent part of a later land boundary.
